BUSHMANISM

If the oxford Advanced Learners dictionary terms the noun BUSHMAN as a
"member of various south west African tribes living and hunting in the
bush", does it mean that the term is restricted to the entity and
unapplicable to others? Or that the western producers blinded by rascim
have stamped Africans alone with the tag bush man? In which case
non-Africans would be exempt from the tag: or else why the use of this
noun on Africans and non-Africans alike? It is either that the
producers are guilty of gross grammatical aberration or there exist a
conscious and malicious plot to stamp the southwest Africans with this
universally applicable noun.

Ordinarily, the term bushman is used by many to show a sign of contempt
for something considered below ones personality. It is used by the
professor who terms his ignorant students bushmen; the town boy who
snears at the poor village boy; the sophisticated town lady who happens
to meet another girl whose views of good life clashes with hers; by the
party guys of our world on the non-party goers; by the taxi driver
whose door is forcefully banged by a passenger; even the market woman
who couldnt manage a swindle on the careful customer, is not exempt in
terming the next fellow a Bushman.

One thing is certain, the term bushman is used as a manipulative word
.The aim of the user is to induce the feeling of inferiority complex on
the object. May be, that is what Oxford is doing to South west
Africans. A good manipulative tool which is known to achieve results,
because it sets in, a wish to change and conform to the norms of the
manipulator .It is an effective weapon in the hands of adept
manipulators because nobody likes to be put down. But the irony of the
whole thing is that conformity with the manipulators view makes one the
real BUSHMAN because by then the individual had alienated himself from
what he really is to something else acclaimed by the manipulator.
